Every decision we make considers our environmental impact. From the materials we use to the partnerships we develop, we strive to tread as lightly as possible on our beautiful planet.

CACTUS

Our Desserto cactus ‘leather’ is derived from the nopal variety of cactus, which is farmed in its native area Zacatecas, Mexico. Cactus is a CO2 sink with an exceptional sequestering capacity. From the 14acre farm, the Desserto team can absorb 8,100 tons of CO2/year whilst generating only 15.30 tons of CO2 annually. Due to their hardy nature, zero irrigation is required, so there is no water wastage on the farm.

APPLE

Our Vegetax apple ‘leather’ is made in Italy from the cores and peels of apples that would otherwise go to waste. It has a waterborne PU coating meaning it does not contain toxic organic solvents. Vegetax is a certified USDA Biobased product, also certified by REACH, and Italian body Veganok as an ethical vegan material.

Hardware

All the shiny details on our bags – chains, zippers, loops – are made from zinc alloy.

Lining

100% rPET made from post-consumer recycled plastic waste.

Dust Bags

We don’t believe in dust bags as they are just one more thing that goes into landfill (or sits in the cupboard gathering dust).

Thank-you cards & swing tags

Locally printed on 100% post-consumer, recycled paper with vegetable-based inks in Melbourne, Australia.

Packaging

Our kraft mailers are made in Melbourne, Australia from 60-70% recycled cardboard and are 100% recyclable. Our tissue paper is FSC certified, acid-free and printed with soy-based inks. Our mailer bags are 100% compostable.

LOM X ONE TREE PLANTED

For every bag we sell, we plant a tree in an area of Australia that needs it most. We do this because a) we love our native flora b) we want to help regenerate areas damaged by bushfires or human impact c) we are consciously off setting any carbon emissions produced during the transportation of LOM products.
